I was born in Te Aroha and was raised on a dry stock farm in Turua on the Hauraki Plains. I attended the local primary school and Hauraki Plains College, I played many sports and helped out on the farm at every possible opportunity.
I particularly enjoyed rugby and was part of the Hauraki Plains College 1st XV rugby championship winning teams in 1995 and 1996. I also made several Thames Valley Representative rugby teams and represented Hauraki Plains College at the National Secondary School athletics.
In 1997 I attended Waikato University and decided to pursue an accounting career, completing a Bachelor Of Management Studies, majoring in Accounting and Finance.
Following the completion of my degree in 2001, I moved to Auckland to work for Deloitte and explored the field of auditing. I had the pleasure of being exposed to several big companies such as; Air New Zealand, Pacific Retail Group (Bond and Bond, Noel Leeming), Carter Holt Harvey and Spotlight Stores.
After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant and 4 years in Audit with Deloitte I moved to Te Awamutu to work for Gyde Wansbone. Since moving to Te Awamutu in 2005 I have married a local Te Awamutu girl, Haley (nee Morris) and we now have two children, Annabelle and Max. I am now a spectator of rugby and enjoy playing golf and having fun with friends.
I was appointed as Director with Gyde Wansbone in April 2010 and enjoy working with commercial operators, tradesmen and farmers.
Through my experiences of growing up in the rural community of Hauraki Plains, working in Auckland and my various team sports, I have the ability to communicate with a broad range of people.
I believe my role as an accountant is not to simply crunch the numbers but is to work with you on your business and provide you with the knowledge and the tools to be able to manage a successful business.
